Nathaniel Dabrowski (Ohio BCI)
The DNA Doe Project team began working on the case of Brooklyn Tracks John Doe in July 2024. Recent East European ancestry complicated the investigative genetic genealogy research as people from this background are underrepresented in databases used for law enforcement cases. His highest DNA match, who turned out to be a 5th cousin, shared just 45cM of DNA with him. Nevertheless, the team of experts worked tirelessly on this case and were able to identify several of his ancestors.
In April 2025, while research was ongoing, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office was contacted by someone who believed that the unidentified man was his missing brother, Nathaniel Dabrowski. Shortly afterwards, hospital imaging confirmed that this missing man was indeed Brooklyn Tracks John Doe.
Description:
At 6:00am on November 14, 2023, a train conductor saw a man lying on the train tracks, but it was too late to stop the train. The young man was struck and pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators determined that he was likely in his late teens or early twenties with a slight frame and a partial beard. He wore a blue zip-up hoodie, light blue t-shirt, gray sweatpants and blue Crocs with the Cleveland Guardians symbol on them.
