On July 21, 2015 workers contracted by the local sewer authority discovered a human skull while clearing brush in a wooded area in Buford, Georgia. Numerous other bones were recovered at that time. No clothing or personal effects were found on the body or at the scene. During a second search of the area in 2017, the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s Office found four more human bones belonging to the same individual. The forensic anthropologist determined the remains were those of a White male between 20 and 40 years old and about 5’ 5” tall. Due to advanced decomposition, hair color, hair length, eye color, and skin tone could not be determined. No obvious signs of trauma or foul play were apparent. Authorities think the man died a few years prior to being discovered, sometime between 2011 and 2014.
